日本邮船投资了一家从事生物质发电的日本公司Sustainable Energy,旨在研究如何将船上的有机废弃物转化为燃料。Sustainable Energy公司开发了一套亚临界水有机废弃物综合发电系统(ISOP系统),该系统利用亚临界水处理技术,可在密闭空间内将燃废弃物等有机物分解成低分子化合物,最终生产出生物燃料等绿色能源产品。通过这项投资,双方将开展联合研究,希望利用ISOP系统将船上产生的垃圾和污泥等有机废弃物转化为燃料。与现有的焚化炉不同,ISOP系统是一种环境友好系统,不会产生二恶英等有害物质。

Japanese shipping company NYK has invested in compatriot Sustainable Energy to study converting organic waste on vessels into fuel. Sustainable Energy specializes in biomass power generation from waste collection. Sustainable Energy has developed an integrated subcritical-water organic-waste power-generation system (ISOP), which decomposes organic substances using subcritical-water-treating technology and ultimately produces green energy products such as biofuels. Through this investment, NYK will begin joint studies on converting organic waste such as garbage and sludge generated on vessels into fuel by utilizing the ISOP system. The ISOP system is an environmentally friendly system that does not generate harmful substances such as dioxins.

移动卫星通信服务供应商Inmarsat的最新研究显示,自2019年以来,商用船舶的数据使用量增长了3倍以上,这表明航运业越来越多地依赖数字网络来提高运营效率和船员福利。对船舶运营商的数据使用情况分析显示,集装箱航运公司对数据的需求最高,2022年6月同比增长了1倍多,达到108%。同一时期,油轮运营商的海事数据使用量增长了70%,散货船增长了47%。Inmarsat Maritime总裁Palmer表示:“海事数据的使用量是衡量航运业经济活动和国际贸易的重要指标。越来越多的航运公司正在升级他们的卫星通信服务,并采用航线规划、船岸宽带数据传输等新技术,最大限度地提高燃料效率。”

Data usage on commercial maritime vessels has jumped more than threefold since 2019, according to new communications analysis by Inmarsat, that underlines the shipping industry’s reliance on digital connectivity to enhance operating efficiency and crew welfare.Analysis of data usage by vessel operators shows year-on-year demand for data was highest among container shipping companies, more than doubling (108%) in June 2022 compared to June 2021, while use of connectivity increased by 70% among oil tanker operators and by 47% on bulk carriers over the same period. Palmer, President of Inmarsat Maritime, said:”Maritime data usage is a leading indicator of economic activity and international trade in the shipping industry. More and more shipping companies are upgrading their satellite communications services and adopting new technologies for applications including route-planning, ship-to-shore broadband data transfers and to maximise fuel efficiency.”

韩国三大船企加大研发投入,提升造船竞争力

近日,韩国产业通商资源部长官李昌洋与韩国三大船企——韩国造船海洋(KSOE)、大宇造船海洋(DSME)、三星重工业(SHI)的首席执行官举行会谈,共同探讨了造船企业目前面临的核心问题以及未来发展的目标。李昌洋在会上表示,为了保持韩国造船业的全球竞争力,政府将在人才培养、技术开发、生态建设等3个方面为船企提供政策支持。今年,韩国三大船企已投入2340亿韩元,用于开发氨燃料动力船、碳捕获和封存装置、智能船舶数据平台、零碳和数字转换技术等。未来,其投资领域将进一步扩大到智慧工厂和环保设施等方面。

Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Lee Chang-yang held a conference with the CEOs of top three domestic shipbuilders on August 19 to discuss key issues and future goals for Korea’s shipyard. The three shipbuilders represented at the conference are Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Minister Lee relayed that preemptive and proactive investments are important for South Korea’s maintaining of its super-gap in shipyard competitiveness, stating that the Government will concentrate on three main areas: personnel, technology and ecosystem. This year, the three companies have poured KRW 234 billion into developing ammonia-fueled carriers, carbon capture and sequestration devices, smart ship data platforms zero carbon and digital transformation technologies. Future investments will continue to expand, soon covering areas like smart yard and eco-friendly facilities.

Columbia Shipmanagement has underlined its commitment to top level training of its crew by signing an agreement with the Nautilus Pacific Maritime Training Centre in Manila to be the exclusive training centre for its seafarers in the Philippines. CSM can tap into state-of-the-art simulators, holograms and webinar technology to bring together the highest quality in-person and online seafarer training. The centre has kinds of mechanical devices, including an number of Wärtsilä simulators, a simulator for liquid cargo handling, multiple ECDIS simulators as well as a new rescue boat simulator, which is the first of its kind in The Philippines. It has also built a dedicated Chemical Tanker workshop and wall wash test training and there are plans to upgrade its electrical and electronic workshops and to introduce crane handling training.
