近日,日本航运公司川崎汽船(K LINE)与北极光(Northern Lights)签署了两艘新造二氧化碳运输船的光租和期租合同,以支持世界首个工业规模的碳捕获和储存(CCS)项目。这两艘船将于2024年交付使用,由川崎汽船设在英国的子公司川崎汽船LNG Shipping(UK)负责管理,用于将液化二氧化碳从工业排放设施处运往北极光位于挪威西部厄于加伦的二氧化碳接收端码头。该船总长130米,载货能力达7500立方米,配备了专用加压货舱以运输液态二氧化碳。船舶还将采用多项绿色技术,包括搭载LNG双燃料动力系统、旋翼帆式风力辅助推进系统以及空气润滑系统。

Japanese shipping company “K” LINE has announced long-term charter contracts for two liquefied CO2 vessels to support the world’s first industrial-scale carbon capture and storage project. The contracts were signed with the Northern Lights joint venture, which is developing the project, and cover the bare boat charter and time charter of two 7,500 m3 liquified CO2 ships on order with delivery planned in 2024. The London-based subsidiary “K” LINE LNG Shipping (UK) Ltd. will undertake the management of two ships. They will be tasked with transporting liquefied CO2 from industrial emitters, including the Norcem Brevik and Hafslund Oslo Celsio carbon capture facilities, to the Northern Lights CO2 receiving terminal in Øygarden, Norway.The 130-meter-long vessels will come with 7,500 m3 of cargo capacity and be specially designed to transport liquid CO2 with purpose-built pressurized cargo tanks. The ships will feature a number of green technologies, including a dual-fuel LNG and wind-assisted propulsion system, in the form of rotor sails, and air lubrication.

In the final round of talks over the weekend, the EU Council and the European Parliament hammered out a provisional political agreement on legislative proposals of the ‘Fit for 55’ package that aim to further reduce emissions and address their social impacts. The deal is pending formal adoption in both institutions. The EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is a carbon market based on a system of cap-and-trade of emission allowances for energy-intensive industries and the power generation sector. It is the EU s main tool in addressing emissions reductions, covering about 40% of the EU s total CO2 emissions. For the first time, the two institutions agreed to include maritime shipping emissions within the scope of the EU ETS. They agreed on a gradual introduction of obligations for shipping companies to surrender allowances: 40% for verified emissions from 2024, 70% for 2025, and 100% for 2026.

由上海外高桥造船厂(SWS)设计的液化天然气/氢动力超大型原油运输船(VLCC)获得了意大利船级社(RINA)的原则性认可(AiP)。该船的动力设计原理是:在 Helbio 气体重整器中将液化天然气与蒸汽相结合,并将甲烷分子分解为氢气和二氧化碳,其中氢气直接用于为内燃机和燃料电池提供燃料。具体来说,直接从液化天然气分子中捕获碳原子是一种燃烧前脱碳技术,即从重整气体流而不是废气排放物中低温分离二氧化碳,可以节约船上空间,并减少化学品的使用和能源损耗。SWS预计,通过使用LNG和船制氢气,该船将达到IMO 2050年的脱碳目标。

Classification society RINA has granted approval in principle (AiP) for Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s (SWS) very large crude carrier (VLCC) vessel design which can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen. The propulsion design is based on combining LNG with steam in a Helbio gas reformer to split LNG molecules into hydrogen and CO2. Hydrogen is then directly used to fuel internal combustion engines and fuel cells. Specifically, the capture of carbon atom directly from the LNG molecules, serves as a pre-combustion technique, and the cryogenic separation of CO2 from a stream of reformed gases rather than from exhaust emissions results in a much smaller installation on bard which eliminates the use of chemicals and the penalty in energy consumption. The company expects that this propulsion arrangement will reduce the ship’s resistance by 5-10% and meet the IMO targets for 2050 through the use of the ship’s fuel (LNG) combined with hydrogen produced onboard.

Rotterdam Shore Power B.V.是荷兰电力供应商Eneco与鹿特丹港务局建立的合资公司,其将在2023年底前为丹麦DFDS航运公司停靠弗拉尔丁恩码头的部分船舶提供岸电。该岸电设施由经过改造的40英尺集装箱组成,其内装有电气设备,能够对陆地公共电网进行变压处理以适合船上使用。电缆管理系统通过电缆将电力从码头输送至船载受电系统。该岸电装置的容量为1.8兆瓦,预计年供电2.5吉瓦,每年减少二氧化碳排放约2100吨。

Rotterdam Shore Power B.V, a joint venture of Eneco and the Port of Rotterdam Authority, will supply shore power to part of the DFDS ships that dock in Vlaardingen by the end 2023. The shore power facility consists of a converted 40-foot container containing electrical equipment that makes electricity from the public power grid suitable for use aboard the vessels. And a cable management system will physically bring the electricity from the wharf aboard the ship with a cable and a plug. The shore power installation has a capacity of 1.8 Megawatts and is expected to provide 3.5 Gigawatts per year of electricity. The estimated CO2 reduction resulting from the investment is approximately 2,100 tons on an annual basis.
