美国“泰坦”号载人潜水器发生灾难性内爆

US Navy detected Titan submersible’s implosion days ago

美国海岸警卫队22日表示,本月18日在考察“泰坦尼克”号邮轮残骸途中失踪的载人潜水器已于失联地点附近发生“灾难性内爆”,5名乘员全部死亡。此前多艘舰船曾在北大西洋相关海域展开大规模搜救行动。据悉,搜救人员使用遥控探测器在距离“泰坦尼克”号残骸488米(1600英尺)处发现了失联潜水器的碎片。“泰坦”号载人潜水器长6.7米,由碳纤维和钛金属材料制成,设计载员5名,包括1名驾驶员和4名乘员,最大下潜深度4000米。

As multiple ships scoured the North Atlantic this week for the missing submersible headed to the Titanic wreck site, the US Navy had already detected an implosion on Sunday at the site where the vessel lost communications. The Coast Guard said on Thursday that the five crew members of the Titan submersible died from a “catastrophic implosion” of their vessel after examining debris found underwater by a remotely operated vehicle. The debris was found 1,600 feet (488 meters) from the bow of the Titanic. The Titan, a 6.7-meter-long craft made of carbon fiber and titanium, was designed to carry a pilot and four crew to a maximum depth of 4,000 meters (13,120 feet).

荷兰船舶设计公司AURELIA与风力推进方案提供商Econowind、太阳能解决方案开发商Wattlab和近海航运公司Vertom合作开发的船舶绿色改造一揽子解决方案,已获得意大利船级社的原则性认可。该解决方案结合了刚性帆、太阳能电池板、储能电池、气象导航等技术,以及由水文和海洋顾问公司(HMC)开发的智能决策支持系统,旨在减少现有纽卡斯尔型散货船的排放。该方案的第一阶段计划在今年内完成,主要包括安装模块化太阳能系统Solar Flatrack、储能电池和HMC开发的SafePlan软件。SafePlan软件可用于优化船舶航线,而太阳能电池板和储能电池将有助于减少辅机的运行时间。荷兰近海航运公司Vertom Group的“Anna”号杂货船参与了该改造项目。

A green retrofit package solution designed by Dutch ship design company AURELIA in partnership with Econowind, Wattlab and Vertom has secured an Approval in Principle (AiP) from the Italian classification society RINA. The solution incorporates rigid sails, solar panels, batteries, optimized weather-routing, and a smart decision support system developed by Hydrographic and Marine Consultants (HMC). The package has been devised to slash emissions of an existing Newcastlemax bulk carrier. The first, to be done in 2023, involves the installation of Solar Flatrack technology, batteries, and the SafePlan software developed by HMC. The SafePlan software will optimize the vessel’s route, while the solar panels and batteries will help reduce the hours of functioning of the auxiliary engines. Dutch short-sea shipping company Vertom Group joined the retrofit project with the general cargo vessel MV Anna.

Denmark-based shipping giant A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) is ready to make pioneering moves in the shipping industry with the retrofit of an existing container ship to a dual-fuel methanol-powered vessel scheduled for 2024. The company revealed that the first engine retrofit in the industry is to be conducted in the middle of 2024, noting its intention to replicate on sister vessels when going for a special survey in 2027. Replacing engine parts and thereby making the engine able to operate on methanol is a rather complex task, but only a part of the larger retrofit operation. For instance, new fuel tanks, fuel preparation room and fuel supply system are also a part of the retrofitting the vessel for green methanol, according to Maersk. Ole Graa Jakobsen, Head of Fleet Technology who is responsible for the retrofit project at Maersk, explained that the detailed engineering for the first retrofit and discussions with potential yards are currently underway.
